“Tbilservice Group” Continues Business Meetings with International Experts within the Framework of the Municipal Waste Management Strategy Project

Within the framework of the project "Tbilisi Municipal Solid Waste Strategy", the presentation of the cost and revenue analysis of Tbilisi Waste Prevention and Recycling Scenarios was held. Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi - Andria Basilaia attended the meeting.

Stakeholders were presented with the third report prepared under the project, which discusses the financial aspects of the proposed waste management options.

Three documents were prepared under the guidance of Dr. Ludwig Streff within the framework of Tbilisi Solid Municipal Waste Strategy Project. The first part of the study started at the end of September last year with the financial support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The aim of the study is to determine the composition of municipal solid waste generated in Tbilisi, on the basis of which the percentage and quantity of its various streams should be determined. This analysis makes it possible to calculate the exact quantities of different municipal solid waste streams for the capital, set realistic quantitative goals for waste separation and recycling and determine ways of their implementation, as well as infrastructure and financial needs.

The ongoing project, financially supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, is a 20-month initiative, the practical implementation of which started on January 16, 2020. Its goal is to develop a 10-year strategy and action plan for solid waste prevention and recycling for Tbilisi, as well as facilitation of the initial stage of plan implementation. The mentioned initiative is implemented by Tbilisi Municipality City Hall with the active participation of “Tbilservice Group” Ltd. Technical assistance for the project is provided by the German-Greek consortium - ICP-ENVIROPLAN under the direct guidance of a German company (ICP-Ingenieurgesellschaft Prof. Czurda & Partner mbH) with extensive experience in waste management.

The business meeting was also attended by Romeo Mikautadze, the Head of “Tbilservice Group” Ltd and Giga Gigashvili, the Head of the Municipal Environmental Protection Service.
