The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has selected a consulting firm (Joint Venture - Leading Organization - GWCC-Interival ZT GmbH & TBU GmbH & DG Consulting ltd) to conduct a Feasibility Study for the Tbilisi Solid Waste Management Project. Which was implemented from November 2016 to May 2017
Main Components of Project:
- Upgrading Vehicle Fleet, replacing old vehicles and repairing damaged ones;
- Renewal of Existing Transfer Station;
- Landfill – Leachate System Rehabilitation;
- Arrangement of Recycling System;
- Arrangement of Rinsing System;
- Landfill – Construction/Renovation of Leachate Storage Pool and Treatment Plant;
On November 27, 2018, the EBRD additionally provided a grant to purchase consulting services for the following items:
- Project Implementation Support;
- Stakeholder Engagement and Participation Program;
- Municipal Solid Waste Management Strategy
In the tender announced by the bank, the consulting company Geo Consultants was selected, which will provide:
- Preparation of Tender Documentation for every Component;
- Tender Announcement, Evaluation and Identification of The Winner;
- Technical Supervision
1) Stakeholder Engagement and participation Program:
In the tender announced by the Bank, the consulting company REC CAUCASUS (Caucasus Regional Environmental Center) was selected to implement the stakeholder engagement and participation program. The main goal of the program is to raise public awareness in the field of waste management and to disseminate information about the current project.
2) Municipal Solid Waste Management Strategy
In order to develop this document, the consulting company was selected by the Tbilisi Municipality City Hall in a tender announced by the bank for the procurement of consulting services.
